I can’t believe how long it’s been since my last post! When I started blogging I knew I would have to focus on social media to help market and grow the blog but I had NO idea how consuming Instagram could be. Don’t get me wrong, I love it! But it is VERY distracting. This basement update remodel update is long overdue — please, forgive me?
This post, like all of the other basement remodel posts, will be picture heavy. We didn’t put the carpet down ourselves so there’s not much I can say about the process. But hey! Who doesn’t love progress photos?!
We hired EmpireToday to install the carpet and they were pretty straight forward and easy to work with. A representative came out at the scheduled time, showed us samples, and gave us a quote. We put down $20 cash to hold the price and get on the schedule. Luckily, they have a pretty open schedule (as early as next day depending on what you’re having installed) and were flexible when we had to push things back due to delays.
There’s was a tiny hiccup on the day of installation but they resolved it without having to leave/reschedule and had the entire basement done in a couple of hours. Nothing terribly special about the experience other than it wasn’t a headache — which with contractors is quite nice!
If you want any information about the carpet and padding we had installed let me know and I can look it up. I can’t remember off the top of my head.
Without further ado, here are some photos of the basement after the carpet was installed.
A look at the basement from the bottom of the stairs.
Looking back towards the stairs from the opposite corner. The built-in bench for the reading nook is underway. Don’t know why the framers missed our request to close off that random little space to the right. But we didn’t want to call them back.
Facing the stairs and the reading nook with Brian’s office and to my left.
Looking into Brian’s office from the family room area.
Looking into the play “room” with a peek a the the laundry through that doorway on the right. We were working washer/dryer hookups and hadn’t put the cabinets in yet. We have one base cabinet for the sink and two upper cabinets.
That’s it for the basement update this week. We’ve been working on the laundry room a bit more and finally got the backsplash finished. I shared some sneak peeks in the Instagram stories but will do a full blog post reveal in the next couple weeks. Just waiting on a custom sign to cover the crawl space opening!
